Scholarship Programmes for International Students
Students who wish to study in Egypt have many scholarship opportunities. There are scholarship programmes for undergraduate and graduate studies in Egypt.
Federal Scholarships
The National Security Education Program comprises of undergraduate and graduate scholarship programmes that provide support to pupils who wish to study in Egypt. These programmes provide pupils full tuition reimbursement. Following are the programmes:
David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships are for undergraduate students studying in critical areas of international education programme, such as Egypt and the Middle East. Eligible students must be involved in a course of study that allows them to learn the vernacular or common language along with the formal language-Arabic. Students must also be acquainted with the country’s culture, tradition and customs. Candidates must possess excellent academic records and a financial need for the funding.
Boren Graduate Fellowships awards offer up to $30,000 for a course of study that is of 2 years to those pupils who exhibit the highest achievement and potential to fulfill the needs of their selected course of study in Egypt.
The National Flagship Language Program is for students who have take up language study and are eligible for full tuition funding.
Privately Funded Programmes
Middle East and Islamic Studies Scholarship
School of International Training (SIT) provides scholarships for language and Islamic studies. Students who are pursuing a course of study in Egypt are eligible for this scholarship. The selection for the scholarship is made on the basis of candidate’s academic record and financial need.
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000 (Depends number of pupils awarded and each candidate’s financial requirement)
Simpson Scholarships in Egyptology
The Simpson scholarship in Egyptology cover studies in culture and history of the country. Students who are interested in studying about Egypt’s history are eligible for this scholarship. It is funded by the American University in Cairo and is open for undergraduate pupils at most of the U.S. universities and colleges who are studying a programme in Egyptology. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic records and financial need.
Other Scholarship Programmes
Besides these scholarships, many tertiary institutions award scholarships to students. Check with the study abroad office of the concerned institution to know about the scholarship programmes being offered.
